Employment Insurance

Canada’s Employment Insurance (EI) program offers economic security to Canadians when they need it most. Some need help because they were laid off, while others need additional support because they left the workforce to raise their children or take care of a loved one.
In every case it is necessary to determine which services and benefits correspond best to your situation:
The regular EI program applies to people who lost their job through no fault of their own.
The illness allowance applies to people who are unable to work for medical reasons.
The Employment Insurance Compassionate Care Benefits apply to people who temporarily stop working to support a member of their family suffering from a serious illness which risks causing death.
The Employment Insurance special benefits for Parents of Critically Ill Children, apply to parents who have to be away from work to provide care or support to their critically ill or injured child.
To find out if you are eligible for Employment Insurance, or for more information visit: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei.html
If you do not have access to a computer or if you prefer in-person assistance, you can visit the nearest Service Canada centre. In the Riding of Laurier—Sainte-Marie, the Canada Service Centre is located at 200 Boulevard René-Lévesque O.
You can submit your request for Employment Insurance benefits online by following the instructions detailed on this link:

If your Employment Insurance benefits are cut, you can communicate with Service Canada to find out why and determine if action is necessary by dialling the 1-800-808-6352.
